Lutz, Day, Sheehan To Lead “Red Sonja”

Matilda Lutz (“Revenge”), Wallis Day (“Batwoman”) and Robert Sheehan (“The Umbrella Academy”) have been tapped to lead the cast of the new “Red Sonja” film adaptation at Millennium Media.
The project is being penned by Joey Soloway and Tasha Huo, and is inspired by the sword and sorcery comic books of the same name. The character was created by Robert E. Howard (“Conan the Barbarian”).
“Ant-Man and the Wasp” star Hannah John Kamen had previously been set for the film’s titular role but has stepped aside due to scheduling conflicts.
Lutz is now set to play the titular character, Day will portray her wicked half-sister Annisia, whilst Sheehan plays Draygan. Plot specifics are under wraps.
M.J. Bassett (“Solomon Kane”) helms the project, which is currently in production at the Bulgarian Nu Boyana Studio, before shifting to the Greece-based branch of the studio.
Michael Bisping, Martyn Ford, Eliza Matengu, Manal El-Feitury and Katrina Durden co-star. The property was previously adapted for the screen in 1985 with Brigitte Nielsen in the title role and Arnold Schwarzenegger co-starring.
